ACE Certification & Compliance

Turn Digital Records into Certification Evidence

ACE connects industry operations, documentation and traceability into structured evidence that can support certification, inspection, testing and conformity assessment — opening access to both African and international markets.

The boundary of this page
ACE does not certify products, companies or people.

Certification remains with the competent certification or conformity-assessment body. ACE organises the digital evidence. The assessment and the decision remain with the body that is authorised to make them.

Nothing on this page is a certification, a certificate, or a claim that any specific scheme has been met.

"Certification starts with evidence.
ACE helps organise the evidence."

A large part of certification readiness is documentation and evidence. ACE moves documentation from a final paperwork exercise into the digital operational process.

Industry activities generate information and documentation. ACE connects this information into structured digital records. Certification bodies, inspection bodies, laboratories and other competent organisations can then use the relevant evidence within their own assessment processes.

ACE does not issue certificates. It does not act as a certification body. It does not guarantee any certification outcome.

Who Does What?

Three roles. Each has a distinct responsibility. None replaces the others.

Industry

Creates the operational evidence

Farmers, producers, processors, professionals, companies and institutions generate records through their normal activities.

ACE

Structures and connects the evidence

ACE provides identity, records, traceability, documentation, workflows and market infrastructure.

Certification / Assessment Body

Assesses the evidence

The competent body conducts the applicable audit, inspection, testing or conformity assessment and makes the relevant decision.

Six steps. One evidence chain.

Each step produces a piece of the evidence chain. ACE organises the chain. The competent body assesses it.

01 · Identify

Who or what

Person, company, farm, organisation, product or service.

02 · Record

What happened

Activities, locations, inputs, production, services, documents and transactions.

03 · Trace

Where it connects

Origin, participants, processes, movement and destination.

04 · Organise

Structured evidence

ACE structures the relevant information into an evidence record.

05 · Assess

Independent assessment

The certification, inspection, testing or conformity-assessment body evaluates the evidence.

06 · Market

Market access

Where applicable, the resulting certification or verified status can support market access.

From Farmer Digitalisation to Certification Evidence

Ecopia Value Chain demonstrates how operational digitalisation can create the underlying records needed for traceability and certification readiness.

Farmer

The starting point of the value chain.

↓
Digital Farmer Identity

Who is producing the product?

↓
GIS / GPS Farm Record

Where is the production taking place?

↓
Production Record

What is being produced and how?

↓
Harvest Record

When was it harvested and in what quantity?

↓
DLM / Aggregation

How was production collected and consolidated?

↓
Processing

What happened to the product after aggregation?

↓
Product Record

What product resulted from the process?

↓
Traceability

Can the product be connected back through the value chain?

↓
Certification Evidence

Can the relevant records and documents be assembled for the applicable assessment process?

A Digital Evidence File

The categories below represent the structure of a digital evidence file. They are categories only — not fabricated documents.

Identity

Who is involved

  • Producer identity
  • Organisation identity
  • Responsible persons
Location

Where it happens

  • GIS / GPS
  • Production site
  • Facility location
Production

What is produced

  • Production records
  • Inputs
  • Activities
  • Harvests and quantities
Supply chain

How it moves

  • Aggregation
  • Transport
  • Processing
  • Delivery and buyers
Documents

What is on file

  • Declarations
  • Contracts and invoices
  • Delivery records
  • Inspection documents
  • Laboratory results
Traceability

Back to source

  • Origin
  • Batch / lot
  • Processing
  • Movement and destination

Different Schemes. One Evidence Infrastructure.

Each certification scheme has its own requirements. ACE organises the underlying evidence that may be relevant. Requirements depend on the applicable certification or assessment scheme.

Organic

Production and supply-chain evidence relevant to applicable organic certification schemes.

Fair Trade

Evidence relevant to applicable social, economic and supply-chain requirements.

ISO

Documentation and operational records that may support applicable ISO management-system or other conformity processes.

Testing & Inspection

Laboratory results, inspection records and technical documentation where applicable.

Technical Assessment

Technical documentation and records relevant to the applicable assessment process.

These schemes are issued by independent certification and conformity-assessment bodies. ACE does not issue any of them. The specific schemes applicable to the pilot are being identified with the industry trail makers. ACE does not endorse, represent or speak for any of these schemes. Names are used only to describe categories of certification.

Certification Evidence Across Industries

Illustrative examples only. These examples do not claim that these records automatically satisfy a specific certification scheme.

Agriculture

Farmer identity → farm location → production → harvest → aggregation → traceability.

Herbal Medicinal Plants

Plant origin → harvesting → processing → product documentation → traceability.

Food & Cosmetics

Ingredients → suppliers → production → batch records → testing → product documentation.

Fashion

Materials → suppliers → production → product records → relevant social and environmental documentation.

Pharmaceuticals

Materials → manufacturing → batch documentation → testing → regulatory documentation.

Creative & Digital

Organisation → intellectual property → rights → contracts → technical documentation.
